Truth Bias

Truth bias means the same thing as deception. All people were born to know that if they lie that things would not work out right in their lives and there would be consequences for not being truthful. However, people still continue to lie each day. A lot of times what happens is a person is afraid of what could happen to them if they told the truth about a negative decision that they already made. So, they practice truth bias which only makes the situation worse.

It is important that we as humans understand the difference between the actual truth and truth bias. When a person is truthful they reap the benefits of gaining trust and being reliable to those surrounding them. Positive things come from being truthful and this is the sort of lifestyle that everyone should live. The world would surely be a better place if everyone told the truth about every situation. There would be less problems and little time would be wasted. However those that practice truth bias confuse people around them. When a person lies they don’t only affect themselves but they affect those around them as well. Those that practice truth bias are often caught soon behind their actions; sometimes later depending upon the situation. When people find out that a person is a liar then they begin to despise that person. People frown upon someone that constantly sustains from telling the truth. They know that the person cannot be trusted and they will often pass this along to others to warn them about how the person is. Practicing truth bias is just asking for a bad reputation.

A person that lies or deceives will leave the person that is the victim feeling betrayed or even violated. Relationships can become easily ruined in this case. Depending on how close the two people are to one another, the victim might forgive that person who practiced deceit on them. However, if the deceitful person continues down the same path of practicing truth bias, they could ruin their relationship with the other person for good. The damage of deceit cannot be taken back but a relationship can be mended together. Since people have feelings they are often able to forgive, but they cannot forget about what happened. There is only a choice to move forward from that point onward.

Being deceitful all starts when a person is motivated by a certain action or choice that they made. Instead of facing possible minimum consequences they make things worse by telling a lie; so they get what they didn’t want from the beginning but worse. The only way that a person can avoid the ultimate trouble is by simply avoiding trouble from the very beginning. Sometimes, accidents happen that a person didn’t mean for to happen. If it was an accident, the consequences are even more minor than if it was something the person meant to do. However because a person fears trouble they can still end up lying about the issue.
